Practical exercises

(included in 90-min and Half Day sessions)

  • Prioritization Exercise – Participants will make a list of all their daily and weekly tasks, categorize them by importance, and decide which ones they can delegate or eliminate. This exercise will help participants focus on what is most important and let go of unnecessary tasks.

  • Mindful Breathing Exercise – Participants will practice a breathing exercise designed to help them reduce stress and increase mindfulness.

  • Time-Blocking Exercise – Participants will use a provided template to block out their workday, including time for specific tasks and personal responsibilities. They will then review their schedule, reflect on potential areas for improvement, and identify ways to make more time for self-care and personal pursuits.

Frameworks

(included in Half-Day sessions)

  • The Wheel of Life: Participants will learn about the Wheel of Life framework, which involves evaluating different aspects of their life (such as family, career, and personal development) and assessing which areas need more attention. This framework will help participants create a balanced approach to work and life by identifying areas that may be neglected.

  • The Four Burners Theory: Participants will explore the Four Burners Theory, which posits that there are four burners in life (work, family, health, and friends) and that in order to be successful, individuals need to turn off one or more of the burners. This framework will help participants identify which burners they need to prioritize and which ones they can afford to turn down.

  • The Eisenhower Matrix: Participants will learn about the Eisenhower Matrix, a productivity framework that helps individuals prioritize their tasks based on their urgency and importance. This framework will enable participants to manage their time more effectively by focusing on high-priority tasks and delegating or eliminating low-priority ones. It will help participants balance their workload and prioritize their time to achieve work-life balance.

Conclusion

By the end of this workshop, attendees will have a thorough understanding of the principles and practices of work-life balance and how they can be applied in their roles as parents or carers. They will have developed a set of tools and strategies that can support their ongoing work-life balance and help them to effectively manage their work and home life.
