Introduction

Cognitive biases are mental shortcuts that our brains use to simplify complex information and make judgments more quickly. While these biases can be helpful in some situations, they can also lead us to make poor decisions.

In this skills training workshop, we will explore the various cognitive biases that can affect our decision making, and how we can guard against them.

Through a combination of theory and practical exercises, we will learn how to recognize and overcome these biases in order to make more effective decisions in the workplace.

Details
  • To understand the concept of cognitive biases and how they can affect decision making
  • To learn about common types of cognitive biases and how to recognize them
  • To practice applying techniques for overcoming cognitive biases to real-world scenarios
  • To learn how to apply these techniques in the workplace to make more effective decisions
  • Lecture and discussion on the concept of cognitive biases and how they affect decision making
  • Group activities and discussions to practice recognizing and overcoming cognitive biases
  • Case study analysis to apply techniques for overcoming cognitive biases in the workplace

(included in Half-Day and Full Day sessions)

  • The Six Thinking Hats Model for considering multiple perspectives
  • The Ladder of Inference for critical thinking
  • The SWOT Analysis for identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threat

At the end of this session, participants will have a deeper understanding of the concept of cognitive biases and how they can affect decision making.

They will also have gained practical skills for recognizing and overcoming these biases, and will have the tools and frameworks to apply these techniques in the workplace to make more effective decisions.

By overcoming cognitive biases, participants will be better equipped to solve problems more effectively, make more informed decisions, and achieve their goals more efficiently.
