Introduction

Conflict is a natural part of any relationship, and it is especially common in teams and organizations where individuals with different personalities, goals, and perspectives may come into contact with one another. While conflicts can sometimes be resolved easily and quickly, they can also escalate and lead to serious problems if not addressed effectively. 

In this training, we will explore how to manage conflicts in teams and organizations, including how to address conflicts at different levels and how to involve leadership in conflict resolution. We will also discuss strategies for building a culture of conflict resolution in the workplace.

  1. The Tannenbaum and Schmidt Continuum: This framework illustrates the different levels of authority and decision-making that can exist in teams and organizations, ranging from autocratic to democratic. 
  2. The Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument: This tool is used to assess an individual’s preferred style of dealing with conflict, including competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding, and accommodating.
  3. The Tuckman and Jensen Stages of Group Development: This model outlines the stages of group development, including forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning.
  • The Tannenbaum and Schmidt Continuum can be used to understand the different levels of authority and decision-making that exist in a team or organization and identify appropriate strategies for addressing conflicts at each level.
  • The Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument can be used to assess an individual’s preferred style of dealing with conflict and identify areas for improvement in conflict resolution skills.
  • The Tuckman and Jensen Stages of Group Development can be used to understand the stages of group development and identify appropriate strategies for addressing conflicts at different stages.

By the end of this training, participants will have a greater understanding of how to manage conflicts in teams and organizations, including how to address conflicts at different levels and involve leadership in conflict resolution. 

They will learn strategies for building a culture of conflict resolution in the workplace and have the opportunity to practice applying these strategies through practical exercises. 

Participants will leave the training with the tools and confidence needed to effectively manage conflicts in the workplace and build a culture of conflict resolution.
