Maintaining a safe work environment is of the utmost importance to ensure the well-being of employees and the smooth operation of a business.

In this skills training program/workshop, participants will learn about best practices for maintaining a safe work environment, including through regular inspections and maintenance of equipment.

The aim of this session is to equip employees and managers with the knowledge and skills needed to identify and mitigate potential hazards in the workplace.

  • To understand the role of regular inspections and maintenance in preventing accidents and injuries

  • The session will include a mix of theoretical and practical elements, including lectures, group discussions, and hands-on exercises.
  • Participants will be given the opportunity to practice identifying hazards in a simulated workplace setting and brainstorming solutions to mitigate those hazards.
  • Case studies and real-life examples will be used to illustrate key concepts and help participants understand how the principles covered in the session can be applied in a work setting.
  • The session will cover relevant legislation and standards related to workplace safety, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant industry-specific regulations.
  • The session will also introduce participants to risk assessment frameworks and tools that can be used to identify and evaluate hazards in the workplace. 
  • The knowledge and skills gained in this session can be leveraged in a variety of work settings to create and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Participants will be able to apply the principles of risk assessment and hazard identification to identify potential hazards in their own work environment and take steps to mitigate those hazards.
  • They will also be able to understand and comply with their legal responsibilities as employees and managers in maintaining a safe work environment

  • Participants will work in small groups to conduct a hazard identification exercise in a simulated workplace setting.
  • They will be given a list of potential hazards and will be asked to identify as many hazards as they can within a set time limit.
  • The group will then discuss the hazards they identified and brainstorm solutions to mitigate those hazards.

At the end of this session, participants will have gained a thorough understanding of the importance of maintaining a safe work environment and will have the knowledge and skills needed to identify and mitigate potential hazards in the workplace.

They will also be aware of their legal responsibilities as employees and managers in maintaining a safe work environment and will be able to apply the principles of risk assessment and hazard identification in their own work setting.
